Check the number of inodes in cPanel

An inode is the abbreviation for index node. In Unix-based file systems, an inode is considered a data structure that represents a single file system object. The inode space is used to "track" files stored on the hard disk. The inode entries store metadata about each file, directory or object, but only point to these structures instead of storing the data. Each entry has a size of 128 bytes.

In simple words, each inode generally equals a file, folder, email or any other unix object in a file system. However, a file can take more than one inode at times due to its large size.

We have an inode limit set on our shared servers to improve the performance of your HDD. As described in our Acceptable Use Policy, the limit is as follows:

Shared servers (Value / Professional / Ultimate plans) - 300,000
Shared business servers (Business Plan) - 600,000

In case the above limits are reached, your account, website, email service will be affected. Emails may not be delivered and sent. New files may not be loaded and the overall performance of the account may become unstable.

Also, keep in mind that once your hosting account exceeds 150,000, you are excluded from the list of accounts that our system automatically backs up. Therefore, in case you want your account to be automatically backed by us, you must keep your number of inodes below the limit mentioned above.

You can easily track and verify the amount of inodes used in your hosting account from the cPanel interface, as shown in the image below.
